It finally happened! Just before Christmas, I purchased the tow vehicle of my dreams. Years ago, I decided the perfect car for me to pull my Airstream Trailers, was a 1956 Ford Parklane Station Wagon. I have had these two pictures in my files for years, and
decided, way back when, that either color would be okay.
Well, here it is!
This was probably the only one of these I could ever afford. The owner had put a new engine and transmission in it, but they weren't hooked up!! My mechanics have worked on it for two months, and it is finally running.
My first test drive was last week. It has been many years since I drove a car without power steering, and with such a HUGE steering wheel. In this picture the "suicide knob" is still on the wheel. Remember what it was for? With a "suicide knob", you could steer the car with one hand, while your other arm was around your honey!
Next blog, I will hopefully figure out how to post a video, so you can hear my siren!
I can't wait to see this car in person!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see you in person:)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations........My parents pulled their first Airstream, a 1962, 22' Safari Twin with a 1956 Buick. Ran like a charm. We always had the oldest car when going to rallys.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome, Gail! Thanks for sharing your dream come true!!
